What Made in Chelsea’s Men Really Do As Day Jobs

MadeinChelsea_Group

The hit E4 series ‘Made in Chelsea’ follows the lives of those who live in one of London’s most famous postcodes, but – as it is so often asked – ‘do they work?’ and if so, what do they do?

The series – which is a mix between a fly-on-the-wall documentary and a drama (loaded with the disclaimer that ‘some scenes have been created for your entertainment’) – is now in its fifth series.  The show’s format is normally an hour long orgy of ‘who’s dating who’, based in some of London’s most exclusive clubs, bars and restaurants. But they never seem to be working on camera.

Here’s what the twenty-somethings of SW3 really do for work.

Spencer Matthews

One of the show’s front-men, Spencer is a broker, but started his working life as a PR Manager for renowned London clubs, such as Movida, AMika and Boujis. His family also own the exclusive Eden Rock Hotel (which is more of an island), where he can often be found, taking a break from all of life’s hard work.

Spencer took a short break from Chelsea to take part in Channel 5’s The Bachelor, where he had the tough task of choosing one of 24 girls.

Hugo Taylor

Harrow-boy Hugo Taylor – who left the show in series 3 – heads up the PR for The Bourne Collection, putting him in charge of contracts for some of London’s most exclusive venues. Since leaving the show, Taylor has gone on to spend three weeks in the jungle on ITV’s ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!’

More recently, Hugo co-founded sunglasses brand Taylor Morris.

Oliver Proudlock

Proudlock is the founder of London-based fashion firm Serge DeNimes, who produce clothing and jewellery, stocked in stores across the UK. Serge also open their very own pop-up shops several times a year.

Fredrik Ferrier

Educated at The Oratory School, Fredrik Ferrier is Chelsea’s youngest cast member and take good care of his body, which has secured him modeling contracts including one in New York. He is also the Director and Founder of his own company, GEIST and a musician.

Francis Boulle

Francis Boulle, the diamond heir and web entrepreneur, runs his six businesses from Chelsea and says he lives and works by the motto ‘Create like a God, command like a king, work like a slave’. He made the headlines in 2010 after launching SexyMP, a website allowing you to rate Members of Parliament on their ‘hottness’. He has since released his own book, Boulle’s Jewels: The Business of Life.

Richard Dinan

Richard Dinan – like Francis – is a self-proclaimed entrepreneur. Off camera Richard holds director positions in 9 companies, including capital venture, publishing and security firms. His main and current business is The Phantom Card, an exclusive discounts card. He left school at the age of 16 to run his business full-time.

Mark-Francis Vandelli

22 year old Mark Francis is the heir to the fortune his mother – Diane Boulting-Casserley Vandelli (the millionairess socialite and model from the 1970s). She was ambassador for Yves Saint-Laurent in the ’70s and ’80s and helped to make the brand as famous as it is today. Mark Francis is the editor of a magazine.

Jamie Laing

Jamie Laing, who is the heir to the biscuit company McVities’ fortune, has started his own sweet-tasting venture. He founded Candy Kittens, which was pitched on the show as an exclusive sweet-store with a difference. Candy Kittens has since launched three popup shops, two in London – one on The King’s Road and the other on Carnaby Street – and most recently one in Leeds.

Ollie Locke

28-year-old Ollie Locke is a VIP Host at Whisky Mist, London. He has also recently released his own book, Laid in Chelsea.

Andy Jordan

Like Richard Dinan, Andy Jordan was educated at Teddies before leaving to join Jamie Laing at Leeds University. He is now a broker in London.

Stevie Johnson

Also educated at Leeds University with Jamie and Andy, Stevie Jordan is currently working in private finance.

So there you have it. The men of Chelsea keep themselves pretty busy in the world-of-work when the cameras aren’t around.
