The chances are, coffee is probably a pretty big part of your life. From the cup you grab on the way to work in the morning, plus the 5 you have during the day, followed by another couple in the evening, you drink a lot of the stuff.

But for the few weeks a year when the weather is hot, the air is think and the city is buzzing, a red hot cup of coffee might not be your cup of tea.

BROOKLYN COFFEE

A joint venture between a Brit and a Brooklyn-er, the appropriately named Brooklyn Coffee has become somewhat of a landmark shop for coffee loves across the capital. The shop aims to bring traditional style New York coffee to London.

Made with carefully sourced beans, the shop specialises in espressos, drip coffee and – most importantly – iced coffees. Served in one of the largest coffee cups in the whole of London, the big-cup offering doesn’t compromise on strength or flavour.

The on-ice menu includes iced latte and cold brew.

GAILS BREAD

With various locations across the whole of the capital, GAIL’s Bakery takes its iced coffee just as seriously as its bread. In their own words, ‘nothing fancy, just a well-made espresso or latte, chilled and iced’ is whats served throughout the year.

Filled with natural light and a bright and open interior design, GAILs is a perfect spot to work during the summer, with shop locations including King’s Road, Hampstead, Soho, Battersea, Notting Hill, St. John’s wood, Fulham Road and Parsons Green.

KAFFEINE

Founded in 2009, Kaffine Coffee brings Australian charm to central London, with a selection of cold drinks suitable for the blisteringly hot Aussie weather.

Brewed with Square Mile beans and a Synesso Cyncra espresso machine, a £2.50 iced latte is one of the best priced, best quality cold coffees in Fitzrovia.

Kaffeine is a small shop, with a rustic interior design. Seating stalls and tables line the walls of the shop, with more than enough room for you to get your head down and work from either the indoor or outdoor seating.

MONOCLE CAFE

Natural light fills the hipster-esque coffee shop that is The Monocle on Chiltern Street. With a cosy interior, including a basement living room area, this is the perfect place to enjoy a slow cold brew whilst escaping summer in the city.

Just like some of its listed counterparts, Kaffeine brews carefully selected beans using a Synesso Cyncra, to create lattes and other coffee drinks on a bed of ice. AVictoria Arduino Black Eagle Gravimetric espresso machine is also used, making Monocle one of only three places in the UK to have one.

The coffee served at Kaffeine’s two London venues is widely considered to be so good that the cafe has branched out into offering coffee courses, sharing tips and tricks to help you brew your own drinks at home.

NUDE ESPRESSO

Tucked away in a small unit near Old Spitalfields Market, Nude Espresso is London’s leasing micro-roastery, with a passion for freshness, quality and exceptional taste.

Using the same beans that go into their hot coffee drinks, Nude offers a Cold Brew and an Iced Coffee on the mean during the hot season, alongside other cold drinks including Luscombe juices and orange juice. A menu of food is also served throughout the year, with mains including a sausage, bacon and halloumi roll and falafel wrap.

If you’re in east London, this is the first place to head for a coffee on ice this summer.
